When you first download Epilude, you get a 14-day free trial with 2,000 words of cloud dictation. To subscribe:

1. Open Epilude and go to Settings > Account
2. Click Subscribe
3. Choose monthly ($18/mo) or annual ($144/yr)

You can also subscribe via the Epilude website and manage your subscription through your account dashboard.

Yes. All new users get a 14-day free trial with 2,000 words of cloud dictation, no credit card required. After the trial, subscribe to continue using cloud features. Local transcription (Parakeet) remains free forever.

Yes. Epilude includes local AI models (Parakeet for transcription, Piper for text-to-speech) that run entirely on your Mac with no internet connection. The trial's 2,000 word limit only applies to cloud transcription. Local transcription is always free, even after your trial ends.

Cloud dictation pauses until you subscribe. You can continue dictating using local transcription (Parakeet), which is free forever and runs on-device. Or, if you've added your own API keys (BYOK), you can continue using cloud transcription at no cost to Epilude. Your settings, dictionary, and snippets are preserved.

Yes. Epilude is billed monthly or annually. You can cancel anytime. Your subscription features will remain active until the end of your current billing period. No questions asked.

Yes. Epilude supports Bring Your Own Key (BYOK) for OpenAI, Deepgram, Anthropic, and ElevenLabs. When using your own keys, cloud transcription is unlimited even during the free trial, and API costs go directly to your provider account.

Yes. Epilude is built privacy-first:

• Local mode: Your voice never leaves your Mac. Transcription runs entirely on-device.
• Cloud mode: Audio is sent to the transcription provider (OpenAI or Deepgram) for processing and is not stored.
• BYOK mode: Audio goes directly to your own API provider account.

Epilude never stores your voice recordings or transcripts on our servers.

Epilude requires macOS 14 (Sonoma) or later. For the best experience with local AI models, we recommend an Apple Silicon Mac (M1 or later) with 8GB+ RAM.
